SUMMARY:2025 Alumni Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Alumni Sunday 25th May 2025\n \nAlumni Sunday \n  \nWhen the late President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi founded Moi High School–Kabarak in 1979\, he gave us more than classrooms and corridors\, he gave us a call to purpose through the powerful motto: \n“On Earth We Rise.” \nFor many years\, this phrase was quietly carried in our hearts. Some saw in it a connection to the Sun\, a symbol in our school crest and Alumni Association logo\, rising daily\, unwaveringly\, lighting the way for all. A metaphor for consistency\, brilliance\, and hope. \nBut during our recent inaugural Alumni Sunday\, a new layer of meaning was offered that stirred our collective spirit: \n“On Earth We Rise… and fly like eagles.” \nEagles don’t flap aimlessly\, they soar with intention. They rise above storms\, they see with clarity\, and they return to their nests only to renew and regroup. They know when to wait\, when to fly\, and when to rise again. \nAs alumni of Kabarak\, we are living proof of this. \nWe’ve risen beyond challenges\, adapted across borders\, thrived in boardrooms\, classrooms\, clinics\, farms\, startups\, homes\, and movements. Rooted in the values we learned at Kabarak\, we are scattered across the world\, but connected by a shared legacy of excellence\, humility\, and vision. \nWe are the eagles. \nWe rise from the Earth\, not to escape it\, but to change it. We rise not alone\, but as a community. We rise again and again\, with purpose\, clarity\, and courage. This is the spirit of Kabarak. \nThis is what it means to say: “On Earth We Rise.” \nDr. Harriet Owino Scott \nEditorial Lead\, Executive Committee\, \nMHS-Kabarak Alumni Association

SUMMARY:2024 Governing Council
DESCRIPTION:Governing Council 2025\nChairman’s Welcome\nCongratulated attendees and welcomed all class year cohort officials and representatives. The aim is to strengthen class cohorts and have enough representatives. What is the benefit for making the alumni \n\nTo benefit our members\nTo support the school\nMotivate career days\nPrize giving days to support academic wok.\n\nHe introduced the ExCom team to the class cohorts. Opened for class cohorts to bring what they have form the class cohort members. What is our role. What can this class cohort do ? \nhttps://mhskabarakalumni.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/VID-20241028-WA0072.mp4\n \n \nReactions from Class Cohort reps.\nJoseph Wendot 1982. \nSubstantial improvements. Committee have done a lot of work within a very short time. Give them a big clap. Of appreciation. Organizing people and results. most important things is to get results. Pole to the ones who have lost colleagues. Can we assist the widows or widowers or their children. When we remember what Moi did we can also be able to emulate these people set high standard of objectives. \nWilliam Too Arusei 1999 \nAppreciation of good work. Seen the journey and following discussion. Sometimes heated and mixed issues and moderated well. Challen but it’s good to get direction. 1991 group have been very active. 2 current permanent secretary\, John Tanui hosted us. Let’s link to other year cohorts and grow our direction. \nDavid Ngetich 1990 \nIf we look at the structure of KOTU forums apex and small ones. If we can think of ways to strengthen year cohorts. Most 1990s and above are 50 years old.  2000s and above have different interests. When we meet as a year cohort owe will have same interest and understand each other. \n\nChapters\nYear cohorts.\nStructures which are stable. Chairmen will be knowing what pertains other cohorts.\n\nJob Mwangi 1992 \nOur Alumni is a result of Moi’s spirit of Nyayo. We may need to identify schools nearby or children needing to the school across the country. For now the school is private and maybe too costly for our incomes. \nEva Molok 1990 \nContributed to the talk about criticism. Sometimes it’s good but there is positive criticism and negative criticism. If we have a way of managing negative criticism. Embarrassing to see spoons thrown all over. \nAlice Kiptoon 19 Athi \nProposed regional chapters. Class cohorts not able to meet but suggested we should be strong on welfare. They had members who had passed on and they visited the family 33 years after school and able to stand with classmate 33 years later. Regional chapters will coordinate more. They wanted visit old teachers especially Mr. Langat. \nHodler 2018 Athi \nThank you for what you are doing. You chose to do it. The age difference makes a big impact in how we can contribute. Most of their age group are in university and cant contribute financially. They are in the group but not participating. We should think of Community service initiatives for genz so that they feel they contribute to the society as MHSK. \nRose Cheruiyot 1998 \nNzoia house captian. Happy to be here. Regional meetings are very important. There are many good opportunities. \nDouglas Ayabei 1995 \nMembers become comfortable they don’t see the benefits of the larger alumni group. There is comfort of people from same comfort. See the importance of the larger group. There was need to emphasize on the benefits of this group. Let’s strengthen the cohort group\, we also need the larger group because we can’t live in exclusion from the larger group. We should explain the benefits. Welfare groups are strong within the year cohort. Importance of Genz support is not monetary terms but also in social welfare. Members are still growing and they are still dependants. Kabarak\, has a special thing in him. When working in county government four CEC and LCS sat on a table without knowing each other and surprisingly all were Kabarak alumni. There is a lot we learnt through Kabarak. gets Give back to the community. We can do a lot to support people of Kabarak community or other communities. Like dorms or surrounding schools. \nMagerer Langat 1992 \nOur class cohorts are perpetual forever till we die. We should enjoin in the group of business because we won’t always be employed. Mzee Moi brought shoes from Bata. Kinyira is when we throw the tire and its not longer useful and that’s what many of us used as shoes. We came with tire/ kinyira shoes. Moi was aware of our backgrounds. Shapes of feet were wide because of walking without shoes. The feet had to fit in the shoes. The field now during opening and visitng is full of big cars. During our time no visits even the whole year. Parents couldn’t come. Today if you don’t visit for a month there is a problem. The children are visited in all events. Sometimes my dad came and I was looked for in the whole school for almost three hours because I wasn’t expecting him. He came without bread but we were lucky Moi gave us bread makatiat. The benefit of how Kabarak has transited. Some people who not comfortable to attend can contribute in an active account to sponsor the class cohort in meeting like this. We should adopt younger class cohorts. And letting them attend meetings. We can support students in Kabarak\, or the surrounding community. Adopting other school for the same amount we can adopt one student. We should really be mindful of others welfare. \nTreasurers Remarks – Ivan Kelunyo\nIvan Kelunyo said we should be proud to be alumni and humble to embrace where we came from. He appreciated the old school\, the generational phases from Kimeli and Wendot\, the veterans. To the 2000s and the 2010 coming forward the alumni was generational until the school became fully private. He reiterated that we don’t have another school where we went to except Kabarak. The alumni umbrella is bringing all of us together. Let’s all be part of the umbrella body. As we grow the cohorts and chapters\, lets be part of the alumni umbrella. We should also grow at cohort level\, Chapter level\, and the Association allows you to do anything good like giving back\, changing lives\, and resources. The primary resource is registration and renewal to be members. \nEvent Details\n \n\n Start Date\n \n\n October 11\, 2025 \n \n\n End Date\n \n\n October 11\, 2025 \n \n\n Location\n \n\n Karen Village\, Ngong Road \n \n\n Organizer\n \n\n ExCom \n \n\n Venue\n \n\n Karen Village\, Ngong Road\nPast Karen \n \n\n Phone\n \n\n 0737767258 \n \n\n Email\n \n\n mhskabarakalumni@gmail.com \n \nLaunch of the Ediotorial Team \nThe editorial team launched the Alumni magazine Edition 1 – 2023 and Edition 2 – 2024 \nThe website was launched. www.mhskabarakalumni.org \nInstagram was launched handle @mhskabarak.alumni \nHarriet demonstrated the pages of the magazine by showing our founder Moi in front and the explained the picture album and finally the Memories are made of this featuring school photos and the back page with the adverts from alumni owned SME. \n  \n\nHarriet Owino Editorial Lead\nAllan Lwala ICT Expert / Website editor\nVelichka Omukuba Website editor\nAmkich Cheruiyot Author / articles\nJonathan Kiprop Author / articles\n\nEvent Speakers\n \nDr. Peter Moindi 1990\nChairman \n \n \n \n \n \nIvan Kelunyo 1992\nTreasurer \n \n \n \n \n \nVelichka Omukuba 1990\nSecretary \n \n \n \n \n \nHon Magerer Langat 1992\nDesignated M.C. \n \n \n \n \nGallery\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \nLocation Map

SUMMARY:2024 Eldoret Reunion
DESCRIPTION:Eldoret Alumni Reunion\n13th April 2024\nThe members of the MHSK Alumni Executive committee present\, the event coordinating committee\, Eldoret Chapter/ region members\, our teachers\, distinguished guests\, ladies and gentlemen I salute you all. \nWe thank God for this grand occasion of the Eldoret region reunion bringing together our members from Eldoret and its environs. Thank you\, members\, for overwhelming response to this call for reunion. You exceeded expectations. Kudos. \nThank you the committee tasked with the organization of this event- Ivan Kelunyo our Vice Treasurer\, Amos Kibet Cheruiyot our Vice Secretary and Betty Tororei our host and 1996 class representative. It is a job well executed. \nThis reunion marks a very important milestone in our journey to bring on board the potential membership of the Alumni Association which is now well over 10\,000 in number. We have now brought on board about 1\,400 members with over 1\,000 having submitted their details to our secretariat and slightly less than 500 having paid their registration and annual subscriptions fees. We have made some progress courtesy of the reunions starting with the inaugural general reunion and special general meeting done on 17th August 2023 at the school. \nOur Amended Constitution recognizes year group cohorts as the basic unit and point of focus in our Alumni activities. They operate as semi-autonomous units who can have own constitutions\, by laws and organizational structure to run their activities independently. This is where a lot of welfare and social activities take place. We believe that strong year group cohorts translate to a strong Alumni Association. This is evident in the attendance of this reunion today. A lot of mobilization happened at the year groups level. We have over 28-year group cohorts represented here today right from 1980 to 2022. This is commendable and a very good start. \nYou have done a commendable job. \nIn order to enhance our interaction and participation in important school activities the Executive Committee has lined up events as follows:- \n\nPrizegiving/Thanksgiving Ceremony – This is a school event.\n\nIt was done in February this year. The Alumni Association was represented by the Chairman and our Liason officer Mr John Limo . We gave awards sponsored from our kitty to the tune of ksh 45\,000 worth and an additional amount of ksh15\,000 from a few members who volunteered to top up. The awards were given to the 7 students who scored A plain of 84 points in the 2023 KCSE and 2 ongoing students outstanding in sports. The school appreciates the role we play/ have played in this regard. \n\nEldoret Reunion – 13th April 2024- We thank God it is here with us.\nNairobi Reunion – Coming in June.\nNakuru Reunion –June or Early July\nAGM – August 2024 . The date to be confirmed via notice.\nCareers Day- In the school calendar- Month of June. We will provide a few speakers on request by the school. We will have our branded tent from which we can offer guidance to students in the various careers. As many of us who will be available are welcome to volunteer in this. The 2023 event was well attended and very successful.\n\nThe Alumni supports these activities through funding from our registration fees\, annual subscriptions and voluntary contributions. I call on all of us to ensure we register and pay our annual subscriptions. You will be making our Alumni Association stronger and to meet its objectives. \nLadies and gentlemen we appreciate your continued support in regard to Alumni activities . Your contributions and suggestions are welcome to the various forums. We intend to strengthen the CLASS REPRESENTATIVES/ EXCOM Forum by having one duly elected representative per class cohort in that forum to ensure we have good flow of communication from the Executive Committee to each class cohort. We will be issuing guidance on this soon. \nGod bless you all and enjoy the reunion. \nDr Peter Moindi\, \nChairman \, MHSK Alumni Association. \nGallery
